Bridget Hart: Proprietor & Instructor

BHSAI, First Aid at Work

Bridget has over thirty five year experience in the equine industry, with a wealth of experience in teaching, coupled with stable management. Bridget was BHSAI qualified at 18, has always loved the equestrian centre environment and prides herself on creating a unique client focused environment with a strong family feel.

Bridget founded Burley Lodge Equestrian in 2011 and the business has gone from strength to strength each year in terms of reputation, client retention and expansion. Prior to this she managed a large equestrian centre for 20 years, which was also a BHS training centre so has vast knowledge and experience of the BHS exam system

In her role as Proprietor, Bridget is able to provide her in-depth experience, knowledge and wide range of skills to clients and staff alike, including:
- Teaching, with a main focus on the early teenage years, in both flatwork and jumping
- Liaising with clients on an ongoing basis to ensure their horses are cared for to a high standard
- Holding overall responsibility for the management and running of the yard
- Organising special events
- Reviewing business strategy on an ongoing basis and driving the business forward to meet client needs and changing requirements
- Assisting clients with purchasing or loaning horses, so that the right fit is achieved for both horse and rider

Jenny Plyer: Manager, Instructor & Professional Rider

BHSAI, NVQ 3 & First Aid

Jenny took her BHSAI at 18 and has worked with Bridget for over fifteen years, progressing her way up to her current role as Manager. Before working closely with Bridget in the founding of Burley Lodge in 2011, they had worked together at another large Equestrian Centre which was also a BHS training Centre, this has enabled her to support staff training and development in the BHS system.
Jenny has a wide range of skills and extensive experience including:
- Vast technical riding knowledge, enabling her to teach our clients at intermediate & advanced level
- Excellent relationships with both staff (participating in the training for their BHS exams) and our clients, who thoroughly enjoy her lessons
- Schooling our clients horses so that they achieve their maximum potential
- Managing the day to day running of the yard to a high standard
- Competing Client horses at all levels
- Managing and organising shows and specialised riding clinics

Lucie Lawton – Assistant Yard Manager

: BHS Stages 1 – 3, NVQ 2 & 3 in Equine Management, Riding Road Safety

Lucie started riding at the age of five and from a young age always wanted a career in the Equine Industry. Since leaving school she has worked alongside Jenny and Bridget, developing her way up through experience and qualifications to her current role. Lucie enjoys competing her own two horses to a BSJA 1.05 level.
In her role as Assistant Manager her responsibilities include:
- Managing the yard in a hands on capacity, so as to ensure all horses are cared for to a high standard
- Liaising with clients to ensure a high level of support is provided to each horse on the yard
- Working alongside and supporting the Burley Lodge team as needed to maintain their high quality of motivation and livery-delivery (whatever the weather!)
- Supporting Jenny in her role as required

Sian Wadmore – Office Manager

Sian has over ten years of experience in the Equestrian Industry as Office Manager

In our front of house role, Sian is responsible for:
- Providing a high level of customer care to all our clients
- Meeting client requirements in all administration duties including bookings, queries & billing
- Ensuring the office is run smoothly on a daily basis
- Managing the payroll system
- Maintaining stock in the Burley shop, and liaising with clients in purchasing requirement

Matt Winder – In-House Instructor

Qualifications: BHSAI

Matt started riding from a very early age and soon knew he wanted a career in the Equine Industry, focusing on teaching. Matt is very enthusiastic and client focused. He enjoys teaching riders of all abilities in all riding disciplines, and really enjoys teaching show jumping.

Suzie Pape - In-House Instructor & Professional Rider

BHS Stages 1-3 care, BHS Stage 3 Flat Riding & Jumping, BHS PTT, NVQ 3 and First Aid trained

Suzie had been riding for a long time before she started as an apprentice with Bridget at the age of eighteen. She teaches a portfolio of clients of varying ages and capabilities, from novice to very experienced riders. She is very patient with our younger clients base and is popular with the owners. Her main interest and skill set is her professional riding capability, which she uses to school our client’s horses. She has a truly amazing ability to develop horses to their full potential.

Stephanie Dewar – In-House Instructor

BHS Stages 1-3 care, BHS Stage 3 flat, BHS PTT, NVQ 3

Steph has over fifteen years’ experience working on several yards, in varying roles. She started working at Burley in 2013 as an Assistant Manager. Since 2016 she has decided to focus solely on her career as a riding instructor. Steph works on a part time basis and thoroughly enjoys teaching a portfolio of clients at all levels and capabilities
